Overview
I did this project for my packaging design class, we had to create a unique beverage and design a label/ carrier for it. The only limitation is that we had to do a bottle (glass or plastic). Fopr my brand I chose a healthy punk energy drink called GOON. It has a better taste than monster or redbull, a better balance to the energy, no preservatives, no dye, no sugar, and ‘no bullshit’. This drink follows the energy drink trend of being made for edgy young guys, but this drink is specifically made for the alt, leftist, healthfood type of guy. I wanted to do a vibrant neon punk aesthetic so it can stand out on the shelf while looking energetic and edgy.
Label
I made the logo from cut out letters I found in a magazine like a classic punk. I used the halftones to add good texture to it. I made the spray paint textures by hand to add some color fills to the label. The background image was made using many filters on photoshop. I made 4 levels of color and selected each individually then masked them with; yellow, yellow with orange halftone, orange, and black. I wanted to create a classic punk image that used to be made using a risograph printer. I chose my color choices by taking them from a poster for an Iggy Pop and Sex Pistols concert and adjusting theem just a little. I wrote all the copy by hand to give it the DIY aesthetic that so often comes with punk. I put a ripped edge along the label to add to the grunge.
6 Pack Carrier
We were given this dieline to use for our 6pack holder. I wanted the holder to be toned down compared to the bottle while still showing the same elements, like a billboard for the label. I used all the elements except for the picture.
