Kosmic Kombucha

      Overview

This project was done for my identity design class.
We had to rebrand an existing company, and the brand I chose was Kosmic Kombucha from Houston Texas.

I felt their current branding was both too reminicist of GT’s Kombucha  and it felt underdeveloped. I noticed how the brand is very reminicent of the 60’s and hippie culture. The brand also uses old song names such as “Purple Haze” for their flavors, and already had an image thaat felt hippie-esque. I leaned into that while adding a modern spin to create a contemporary ‘kosmic’ brand.

For this one I was imagining butterfly wings, or a mirrror.

What is more mystical than an all seeing eye? I combined it with the bottle to show how its a mystical but healthy beverage.

Kosmic Kombucha Existing Branding

I love experimental funky type with changing baselines, and it fit the brand perfectly.

I added text to the pictorial logo and made the words leead into the bottle.

This emblem is a fun take on the logo. It used the small sun character to reference the ‘kosmic’ with the word ‘kosmic’ taking up
the sky.

Conclusion

I decided to stick with two logos in the end. I felt the wordmark paired very well with the pictorial. A fun brand like this would use multiple logos for different occasions, or both as design elements on the same product. Both felt like they were coming from the same brand and could be used interchangably to create brand recognizability.

Brand Elements

This project was a continuation of the branding of the previous logos. I created brand elements for the company; business card, letterhead, envelope, and seeing how the logo would work on packaging for the company.

Brand Standard Presentation

In the next phase of the project was to create specific brand standards. The challenge was trying to spell out the guidelines of the brand’s design so any future designer could create something without any mistakes. I created this like it was a genuine branding document, with file location in a company wide drive. These are a few select slides from the presentation.
